Tell us how you got into photography: As a sentimental person, I always just loved photographs. When I was about 10 or 11 years old, I would assemble photo albums of all the old family pictures I could get my hands on. I loved the memories and stories attached to them. I picked up my first 35mm SLR in my early 20’s and my love for it evolved from there. I started taking classes and workshops whenever I had the chance and started my photography business in 2009.
Define your photography style: Laid back real moments. I travel light and try to keep the sessions and setups as simple as possible.
Describe your favorite photo: That’s a tough one with so many to choose from, but the first that comes to mind is one that my husband snapped of me holding my son for the first time after his open heart surgery. Every time I look at it, it brings back a flood of emotions and memories.
Tell us your most memorable photography story: Before I became a mom, I knew my child would be photographed a LOT. But what I didn’t know was that my son would be born with a congenital heart defect and spend many of his early days in a hospital bed. His condition forced me to give up photography professionally for about a year. But it also forced me to look at life through new eyes. I photographed the scariness of our situation and also tried to capture the small joys and successes. I had to find beauty in new ways. It was challenging and rewarding all at once. It really defined my style to take that break from business and photograph our real life.
Are you an Early bird or Night owl? Neither. I really love sleep. But most often, you can find me editing late into the night.
Who is your favorite photographer? Probably Annie Liebovitz because her job just seems the coolest.
What is your favorite Mod product(s)? The adorable straps.
